Avoiding Medical Fraud Part -3

Do Experts in the field use the service?

Does your doctor take the vitamin you are considering? Does the doctor’s family? Does arthritis doctors who have arthritis wear magnetic or copper bracelets? Do cancer doctors use laetrile when they or their spouse have cancer? Doctors and their families get cancer, and other diseases just as frequently as anybody else. If any treatment have the remotest chance of benefiting one of these serious conditions, the physician would use that product. In point of fact, physicians do not use these marginal services. Instead doctors have decreased their cigarette smoking. They have taken up jogging, and other regular forms of exercise. They have not endorsed megavitamin therapy, diet fads, and other popular fancies by their own use, except in unusual instances.
Does the proposed service make sense?
This is the final test. Frequently, medical frauds and promotions of of false cures are successful because no one really asks whether it makes commonsense. Do you really think that creams will improve your bust line? Or that you can lose weight only in the hips? Or that a vitamin will help your sex life? Or that a lamb’s embryo will keep you young? By definition, false cures have false rationale. This rationale is often weak and easily identified as such.
